The # is because the column isn't wide enough. Notice: it's one long command, 12 lines, starts with 'echo' and ends with 'disable-file-locking.xcd'. However, b.odt will always be in the same directory as myfolder. However different people will have different paths. The direct path for the hyper link will look like this: c:b.odt.

How do I turn this super-annoying feature off? I understand how it's generally useful and preferable to have it on, but not for the purpose I'm making this particular spreadsheet for. If the Hyperlink is in button form, the spreadsheet must have Design Mode on in order to edit the Hyperlink. So it went from the "12/08/11 Thursday" I typed in to "12/08/12" and I can't stop it from changing the date format and even the year I enter no matter if I delete it, or cut/paste other dates into that cell. To edit an existing link, place the cursor anywhere in the link and click the hyperlink icon on the standard toolbar or select Edit > Hyperlink. When you type a web or email address in Word, you may notice that the program automatically formats it as a live hyperlink.
This worked on OpenOffice Calc 2.4.1 running on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). (It is worth having a look through the other tickboxes here as there were several other things I wanted to untick, like fractionifying fractions and making URLs into links. I'm making a spreadsheet and at first, I had no problem entering dates, but after the the first three went in, the program began auto-correcting the dates to fit its own format (I want my own, custom format with calendar date then calendar day name). Doing this should prevent OpenOffice from making any of the changes listed in the ‘Replace’ list.
